With the support and donations of our community, in Jan to Dec 2018, St Vincent de Paul’s was able to assist 1898 households with emergency food and/or personal hygiene products.  We are so thankful for your food donations as we can’t do it without you.

This year we are asking for your help once again.  We have seen an increase of 58% in the first three months of this year compared to this time last year.  If you are able to help us, we could use the items listed below.

Laurie’s Recipe of The Week

Laurie’s Cauliflower Soup

1 onion chopped

2 stalks celery chopped

1 head cauliflower broken into floretts

2 large potatoes peeled and cut into quarters

Garlic, salt, pepper

2 cups milk or cream

1/4 Grated cheese, 4 cheese slices, or 2 tbls. Parmesan

Saute onions and celery in pot until soft.  Add cauliflower and potatoes and just cover with water.  Cook until vegetables are falling apart.  Blend all in blender or food processor or use hand blender.  Add milk or cream and cheese and blend again.  Season, blend and taste.  Adjust seasoning to your taste.  Thicken with flour mixed with water if needed but potatoes should make it thick enough.
